Artist Statement

Pocket Entropy Pocket Entropy is a creative duo formed by Letícia Barreto (Brazil) and Joaquim Marques (Portugal). Even though they had done some experimental projects together previously, their official collaboration started in 2015, when invited to present a project for the 1st edition of Frestas Art Triennial, in Sorocaba, Brazil. Using several techniques, such as drawing, painting, photography, sound installation, and urban intervention, our work focuses on matters like the public perception about art and the artists; immigration, the concept of home, and shelter. Our work also addresses the perception of the “others” and about the migratory flows and the marks in their personal lives. The duo links historical, literary, and artistic references from the past to the dystopias of our days.
